From the very beginning of the A-Series engine, the rocker cover has been sealed with a cork gasket. Fine in their time, and they worked well enough, but over time they would fail becoming hard and brittle and shrinking to the point that leaks become common.
These new silicone gaskets will never have the issues that standard cork or rubber gaskets suffer from. They will never become hard and will never suffer from the heat damage associated with lesser gaskets. These gaskets have a rounded profile to fit any A-series engine with the standard pressed steel valve/rocker covers. For alloy covers, see part AJM401ALLOYS.

Question:
What's the difference between the valve cover gaskets gug705009evo, ajm401s, and ajm401alloys? I have a 1275 motor with an aluminum valve cover with quick-release T tie-downs. Also, I put 8 Valve steam seals Ljq101160 in my cart is that best? and will I need 8 of them?
Answer:
All of those valve cover gaskets are silicone but the AJM401S is more for the standard, pressed steel valve covers, not the aluminum (alloy) types which have a wider lip on them. The only other difference between some of these gaskets is the 11-stud type has notches in them on both ends to clear the extra two studs on 11-stud heads.
Those are the best valve seals offered. And yes, 8 is the correct count.
There are five studs on the spark plug side, 4 underneath the valve cover (two of these are the studs the valve cover nuts go on) , and two more on the top of the head on the front and rear if an 11-stud (Cooper S) type head. Most heads are not 11-stud. The only factory 11-studs were on the Mini Cooper S.
