My rear sway bar has taken care of keeping the power on the road in right turns.  I was just wondering if I went to the higher HP option would I need the LSD.  Sounds like I should be happy with what I have.  My Porsche is 9:1 power to weight and the Hemi/Vette is 9.5:1 so I think I'll be happy with the Mini as is.  Thanks all

I don't have that kind of horse-power so it isn't an issue for me, but I imagine some sort of viscous drive diff might work, where the viscous drive allows a little differential effect for going around corners but binds up when one wheel turns significantly more that the other.

That’s funny. And true! I have a Quaife LSD w/ 90 HP at the wheels. I’ve managed to dial out torque steer with suspension adjustment, minimal wheel offset, and the proper tires (see: link). But accelerating around turns on an uneven surface requires both hands on the wheel and a firm grip. 

Still, that’s preferable to having all that horsepower go up in smoke while spinning the wheel with the least grip. So no, I don’t regret the LSD. Under normal conditions it doesn’t even come into play.

A 120-150+ HP VTEC with a LSD might be another matter. Might be too much of a handful. Besides, with that kind of horsepower you can afford to give up a couple of HP to avoid having to maintain a death grip on the wheel.

120 HP without LSD  = MORE one wheel Peels for sure... and / more twichyness and yanking off the road.

A common 120+ HP upgrade is the Honda D series  and with the same its 5 speed trans . Also Non LSD.
  Common to Upgrade to a Gripper  type LSD https://gripperlsd.com/product-category/honda/


Add the LSD and you have more  Grip being put down but in a mini that grip is working hard to stay on the road = now BOTH wheels can pull you off the road.   Most Honda conversions ( if that is your case are quite twichy under POWER)


Ive driven a turbo A Series with a strong LSD = STRONG even pull when accelerating not overpowered at 5 PSI
   This LSD Howver took ARM Strength to overcome when turning...  Great going straight but working hard in the turns.

That conversion to the Japanese engine seems pretty popular.  I was just wondering.  My engine making 70 Hp at the wheels will spin the right front tire easily.  I wonder what it would be like with an engine making maybe 120 hp without a limited slip.  

So is it common, when putting that type engine in the Mini, to include the limited slip and where do they come from??
