Using the harley throttle will require some fabrication - "simple" way would be to just attach the pivot point of the pedal to the handlebar end of the harley - move the pedal... harley ECU sees movement = opens throttle. 

the other and probably much better option would be to use a standalone engine management system with it's own throttle input

should make for a fun, reliable, quick pup!

The engine will actually be in the bed of the pup.. sitting over a trike axel.  100% liquid-cooled engine with an oil cooler as well.  This is a labor of love we are working on for this guy, so he wasn't worried too much about high-end torque... was a dream car he wants for him and his son.  Car shows.. not daily driver.

I did talk to a few HD mech's and they told me that I would have to hook up a meter to the contact points to find the exact draw of power to establish the range and they recommended going to Summit Racing for the pedal.  

Since I posted this... I did however talk to someone that gave me a great idea on how to convert the actual stock twist throttle to a pedal using some CNC parts and a few brackets to tie in the twist sensor.

I saw a Harley engine conversion in a Mini Van at the UK IMM 60 in 2019 that was mounted up front just like a Morgan three wheeler.
It had an Alfa Romeo rear end but i cannot remember the gear box that was used.
The owner did say it was slow accelerating and at top speed with no torque and he had to remount the engine further forward (outside the body lines) as he had cooling issues.

Just because you can do something means that you absolutely should. 


Although to be fair, I'm pretty sure most of the bike engine conversions have been done with liquid cooled engines.  

Although not all of them.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. The Mini's lump may be a tractor engine, but at least it's got water cooling and the attached transmission comes with a differential. The air cooled Harley twins have marginal cooling in a bike and would overheat at any sustained speeds in a car body. Then there's the issue of vibration- Harley did a lot of work to develop vibration isolation mounting systems for their paint shakers, can you do as well?

It shouldn't be too hard to figure out what the open and closed signals need to be to the ecu or the throttle control module or whatever Harley uses. It's just a potentiometer, like a volume switch or a fuel sender. Then see if any of the off-the-shelf drive by wire pedals have the same range, or maybe check out the hot rod suppliers. Somebody like Lokar or Mr. Gasket probably has something that would work. Check at Summit Racing or JEGS.

This sound like a question better asked of Harley Davidson people. The twist grip is really just a couple of rheostats tuned to what the throttle body expects to see. But it could go through the ecu/pcm and may can bus or other like system.

We are working on a very unique build for a Veteran with amputations and we are looking to convert the standard handlebar throttle by wire setup from a 2019 Harley Davidson with a pedal... has anyone done anything like that in here? Yes, we are putting a V-Twin Engine in a Mini.  I don't want to get into all the details of the build, but I'm basically hoping that someone that has done a ZCar with a motorcycle engine has done something similar.

Any help would be great!!!!!
