No manifold.  I'll have to dig a carb out in order to confirm linkages.  I wont be able to look for a few days.

Tim.

I’m in Uxbridge which is about 30 minutes from you.  I probably have an 1.5” SU that I’d sell.  Once we’re done self isolating we’ll have to get together.  I won’t be able to help you with the manifolds though.

Yay! Another Canadan! I'm in Ottawa.

There are Mini owners in southern Ontario closer to you than I am.

I do have a later 998 Siamese cast iron manifold that will accept a HS4 carb, (and a worn HS4 as well) though you'd be better off going the alloy intake and the Cooper Freeflow exhaust.

Chapy (Adrian?):

Tell us where you are located - someone close to you may have parts you can use.

Single HS2 - 1 1/4 carb has bolts that are straight up and down...
Single HS4 = has angled bolts.   They are not imeadeatlyreplaceable.

You must also change the intake manifold / upgrade the intake manifold for the Hs4

You Probably already have the fully cast together Exhaust manifold + Intake Manifold. All one piece.
you CAN cut them apart but there are much simpler better intakes sold  along with better ehaust manifolds for the plug and play bang for buck result...

Added pictures   HS2 1 1/4 vs HS4 1.5 Carb

I have and can offer HS2 (USED) needs rebuild
Iron Manifold - USED = as is cut off of a full cast manfold I will not fit with a Cooper freeflow header.
   K+N Filter

NOTE.  you will also need  a carb spacer + other hardware including carb rebuild kit (jet and seals) to refurbish. plus carb linkage plate.

Email me if interested.

In your first post you say "stock carbs" which implies you have dual carbs already, maybe HS2s. Changing to a single HS4 HIF4/38 would be a downgrade IMHO. Also I don't agree with Coopertune, HIF carbs are waaaayyyy better than HS carbs..

Don't know where you are, but if you are local, I am giving away the Stage 1 parts off my 998.  Carb, intake, exhaust, engine steady...

Please post some pictures of your current setup = We would like to help guide you... What if you already have the 1.5 HS4 carb?

HS2 - 1.1/4 carbs were more common on 850's

For installing a new carb= thats great. but any real benefit comes from adding a better intake = full exhaust.. More air and fuel in = more air and fuel out.

I dont see listed here on mini mania., But a typical upgrade to a 'stock' setup is a stage 1 Kit.

Intake + Exhaust  Manifold + Ehauxt pipe all the way completes a Performance upgrade setup. Its not Worth doing one thing without doing the rest.

Compare your current carb to  this one on ebay = Do you have a HS4 ?

A cast iron 998 intake/exhaust manifold should be able to accept a 1.5" carb. If you want to get improved flow from an alloy intake manifold and exhaust header, one suggestion is this for intake.  and this for exhaust.

Both are fairly easy to install and the exhaust is easier to connect than the standard manifold-to-downpipe clamp. From there, you will probably want to optimize the rest of the exhaust system for flow.

My carb preference would be a HS type as they are easier to tune, clean the fuel bowl etc. HIF have an integral fuel bowl that requires you to remove the carb to inspect or clean the fuel bowl or adjust the float valve. They also contain a bimetallic lever that leans out the fuel as the engine and carb warm up. The aggravating thing with this is that, while you are trying to adjust the idle mixture, the car isn't moving and the carb tends to get warmer than normal (while the car is moving). This leans out the mixture as you are trying to fine-tune... chasing a moving target. HS types don't have this.

Hi Steve i am a new mini owner and not very mechanical, my car is a 68 and is all stock and trying to improve performance. From what i am told i need a single carb 1 1/2" SU, HS4 or HIF38. That being said i will also need the exhaust manifold kit and air filter t complete the change over from stock

With no profile it's hard to tell where you are. Are  you thinking of a one pc. intake/exhaust and single carb. Or a small bore header
and alloy water cooled single 1 1/2 intake. Or maybe twin 1 1/4 SUs with small bore header. Steve (CTR)
