Any chance that the life of these rubber products can be extended by using red rubber grease?

That is a nice product and I do like the fact that you do not have to remove the cv to fit the new boot.
The downside is the $299 cost of the air operated tool they used to install the boot.

From faded memory I believe that Suzuki Swift CV boots can be used on a Mini.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Tie bar bushings. as noted, go straight to Poly .  much easier to just use an off the shelf replacement that works.,

Steering Rack gators.... While it would take some research and digging. I would presume an ATV / UTV  ( Polaris, Honda, ETC type vehicle has a small steering rack installed) with that -= smaller boots.    A factory boot from an OEM manufacture SHOULD be better quality than the aftermarket rubber we're buying.   Gators are DARN Cheap...  but the fact that they dont last is annoying. An OEM Gator should last years as they dont want to replace them too under warranty.

I have a new steering rack on the bench now for install .  I know these gators will only last 2 years...
  in quickly measuring =-
Big end of the gator is 1-3/4 inches
   overall legenth ~5 inches
    Small end   1/2 inch

A visit to a powersports dealer could put you under new units in a showroom that you probably could measure or PERHAPS the parts counter might have some in stock.

Gator for the trumpet/ knuckle joint  =  Thats a tough one... I havnt seen anything different listed.

I bought a set from David Ainley at Classic Minis Japan to replace the set I installed last year knowing they'll only last another year or so. The other rubber bits I've bought from him have been really nice quality. It will remain to be seen if they do last longer.

I am sure there is a match out there, just have to find it, as well as for ball joint boots. MKI Fiesta's use VW Rabbit CV boots.
A trip to the pick a part with some calipers may do the trick.

I feel your pain. I been part of the chorus complaining about this crap of so called rubber.
Way back in time, when doing routine maintenance, I would throw away good rubber parts thinking that the new rubber parts would last as long. Now the false rubber crumbles in months.

The knuckle boots now comes in poly or silicon. I'm testing them now.

I wanted to re-open the conversation again regarding the appalling quality of some, if not most, of the rubber replacements for our little cars (re-manned rubber vs new/old stock which is clearly the way to go.  This thread was a good example of what may of you are experiencing:
https://www.minimania.com/msgThread/122950/1/1/Rubber_Woes

I am attaching a few pics of simple rubber failure within 1-2 years of minimal road time, living in the south (Georgia) and garaged.  I simply cannot believe that the vendors that I have purchased some of these from continue to sell this rubber like they do - any yet after a few emails, I am getting nowhere (note: I have not purchased these from MiniMania, but I am sure you can figure out the ones).  Having worked in the aftermarket parts industry for some years I understand the business model around sourcing parts like this for ease of drop shipping to the consumer...but the vendors have got to know that this is happening.

With that being said - I am looking for backyard solutions at this point.  Knowing that tie-rod end bushings can be changed out for derlin or ploy material, but I was looking for factory like rubber for my application.  What I am more concerned with is the failure of the knuckle joint boot within 1 year of minimal road use.  I know there may be some alternatives here from Japan to explore.  I am interested of anyone else have some thoughts.

Where I really want to focus my attention now is the degradation of the outer CV boots - that are clearly starting to crack now - and assume my steering rack boots are in similar condition.  I am trying to see if anyone has sourced or cross referenced a similar boot from our of the major US autoparts suppliers - possible EMPI, MOOG or Doorman boots which are available at Napa, Autozone, Driveline, etc.  Possibly something of better silicone, neoprene, or rubber quality - maybe even Thermoplastic boots.  I just don't know about sizing and if one can be modified or direct fit vs re-fit.  I know the sizing needs to be spot on here or you will have a loss of grease, etc.

Anyone have any findings over the years specifically for the CV boots?
