I have had it in and out several time looking for a problem so I know it’s not the connection.so your guess it needs reprogramming.

All of the dash / instrumentation lighting is controlled by the body control module (BCM) located in the passenger side kick panel.
You might try the simple first and try disconnecting / re connecting the connectors at the BCM.
We have seen electrical gremlins like this solved by having the dealer reload the software into the BCM.. for whatever reason, the software can get corrupted - occasionally.
It's also possible the BCM may be defective....

I have got a 2004 Mini Cooper base model 65000 miles heater control panel will not lite up or do anything.i have changed it out with two other used ones and same thing .i have checked all fuses all connections for corrosion and find nothing .help
