The early mag gearboxes (2a3707, 2a3708, 2a77) and the first aluminium gearbox (22a104) were constant pressure (cone) 3 synchro with A type gears on bronze bearings, but were only used for ‘59 and ‘60 cars. The 22a145 came into use later in ‘60 and the 22a363 in turn replaced that, both also cone A type on bronze bearings. The A type 3 synchro baulk ring on roller bearing boxes took over in ‘62, followed in ‘63 by the B type 3 synchro, and then finally the B type 4 synchro from ‘68. All cone gearbox casings use a smaller diameter third motion shaft and main bearing compared to the following A and B type baulk ring setup, so a custom bearing is required if fitting a newer mainshaft to an early casing, or a conversion kit which includes the new bearing. Regarding used/second hand parts, the cones are usually all worn down by the time the box is discarded. Consider that a common option back in the mid 60s would have been to replace the entire cone gearbox completely with a 22G68 A or B type baulk synchro box. As stated above, the cone synchro hubs can’t be refurbished without shrink fitting and then machining new cones to the gears - which, even if new cones were available (they aren't) - is a precision engineering job on a lathe, not something you can do without a workshop. Not sure if anyone still has the 8G718 cone to baulk ring conversion parts available - there was one on eBay UK a few weeks ago, I don’t know if it sold. Link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254378364695

I redid mine purely because I wanted the car to be just like it came from the factory. You are probably better off to update it some other way but if you decide to put it back stock I can make some synchros for you I would also need the mating gear to the one being done in order to set the height correctly.

Those were refered to as A gears the synchro is not available without the gear they are pressed on and staked into place then cut to size. They can be redone on a lathe from aluminum bronze or silicon bronze I did mine. Or if you can find a set of B gears from a later magic wand they fit and you can get synchros for them it is still a 3 sync box not that it matters just stop for first. A gear box's even when new didn't work great no speed shifting for sure.
NOS Gears with cone installed do show up on ebay now and then I found a NOS input shaft for mine.

In the fairly recent past I have built one four synchro magic wand and installed two, one shipped from
left coast and the other from UK. Two are in service and one waiting for build to complete. They are the
real deal very nice. There is a org. four synchro magic wand tranny or we remove diff. housings from
early trannys and fit to 1128 cases. I have a box of remote diff housings I send around for people to
select the best fit when repairing. They buy one and return the rest. I'm currently out of early diff housings
and also out of AA 1128 cases. I don't mind using them as they are not mini. Steve (CTR)

Last year. That price was also with NO core as I was not going to ship a trans from the USA to the UK. Have not installed it yet. The moke I am building is slow going. I know someone else that did this and he was very pleased with his trans set up the same way.

its the magic wand gearbox cone type synchro and my car is a 1961 mk 1 mini
i am aware that parts for this gearbox are hard to find
perhaps good second hand parts would also b e good the gearbox has noisy 1st gear and virtually no synchromesh on the upper 3 gears
1st gear is crash

You can replace the cone syncromesh with the baulk type - at least "back in the day" you could. Around fifty years ago when they stopped producing the cone type there was replacement gearset with baulk rings that was a direct replacement
