There was a time when one could post a request for parts and get several offers the same day. It
seems now things are different. Recently two people have posted here for parts. I have replied to each
with what they were looking for and at a price I feel is fair. It seems both were not buyers but lookers.
Let's be honest I really don't like selling parts. I do very much enjoy buying parts. Problem is I have a
5500 sq ft building nearly full and I have begun decking the shop for additional storage. If I don't want
the wife to pay someone to junk out my entire shop after I'm gone I need to start thinning the herd.

Speaking of selling, I heard from a customer last night, he wants to sell one of the nicest MK1 Inno
1000 Coopers I have ever seen. A needs nothing car that would make someone an instant show winner.

Been around 10 years since I had to reset my login but I don't know where it shows that date was probably here 3 years before that. Back then threads only lasted 365 days if not posted in too bad as a tremendous amount of mini knowledge was lost some of it forever.  

I have had lots of help and parts from members on here over the years and bought and sold a few minis. Still, have and use my 60 that I bought and then restored from Bruce (B-cliff) in Loveland colorado. 

Good to see some old names pop up in this thread a lot of us know one and other as friends even if we have never met in person. Years of interaction on here leads to getting to know some folks pretty close.

I see travis10inch posted on the first page he sent the slider window glass for my 60 to me years ago about that time there was a tragedy in his family he posted it on here I've never met him in person but it hit me like it was my own brother every time I slide a window in my car I think about it. 

Lots of stories come to mind most are happier. That one just sticks with me about how MM use to be and still is to some extent much more than just a forum maybe I'll post more later.

Big Al you may have been the one who couldn't stand reading my thread about the car not running. You called and said "pull a spark plug and put your finger over the hole. Turn the car over. If it puffs when the spark plug sparks, you got your timing right". I did just that and was sure it was correct. I got in, put the pedal to the floor and it started. Some times you can over think things.

I started asking questions when I got my first mini in 2003. I didn't know exactly what I had and boy did everyone give me hell about it. I said I had a 1967 Cooper S. Immediately the gurus came to the table to tell me more Cooper S' were on the road than were ever built. "check this and check that" they said. "does it have the ______ and show us the _______" they said. Finally someone said "OK a$$hole, you got one". Not mean but more of lucky you. Even then I didn't know the gravity of what I got. I wanted a flip front, 13" wheels, roll cage street racer. Some mentioned "why don't you trade for what you want and let the genuine cars stay with the collectors?" Now, 16 years later I'm doing just that. I've listed my car on BAT and removed all the stickers and lights. I enjoyed the car and have had great success fixing and improving it with the help of you guys. I knew the moment I made my screen name HelpMyMini I was in the family of great minds. I made that name because I'm humble. I KNOW I don't know everything but I also know how to ask. Some have ridiculed me for my actions, some have praised me. Thankfully those who said "don't do anything you can't undo" spoke up. I thought I'd never sell it but here we are.

Been on here since 2000, about half my life at this point. I grew up in a Mini, but have yet to pull the trigger to buy one myself. I have come close three times, and for various reasons, have not plunged. I chime in occasionally, more about history and the Mini community in the US, but mostly read to have the knowledge to do EVERYTHING with COMPLETE CONFIDENCE <sarcasm> when I do purchase. I have watched the forum ebb and flow, and I certainly do not come here as much as I used to. I still find it to be a great source of institutional knowledge and information, and have enjoyed watching a return to somewhat normalcy after the antics of a few years back....

Been posting here on and off since '98 when I bought my Mini for $1500 in Germany.  I didn't know crap about... well, anything at the time.

Learned a ton here from everyone.  Heck, good and bad.

It's been very refreshing to see many of the old guard come out of the woodwork.  I stopped reading and/or posting very much when the trolls(plural) started taking over the board and those in charge did very little to nothing about it.  A sad state of affairs.

I wonder if Jim Guam ever got his external hinges mounted to his internal hinge doors ?

My Ford Explorer died and put a temp end to my travels. Alex and I have a new to us Dodge mid size P/U.
We both love the truck after replacing just about everything under it. I have 1/2 inch thick pile of packing
slips from my new best friend Rock Auto. I have made several trips with trailer and this is a good fit for us.
I hope to be making the rounds and picking up or dropping off in the spring. Steve (CTR)

Have been hanging out here for about 16 17 yrs. but definitely not lately.  Sorry to say I sold my 1960 (Cooper look alike), however I do have a 2017 MCS which I love.
To the thread starter, Steve, I still have that 850 block, crank, head, etc. looking for a good home.

Been here since 2005 when I got my first mini, and have been restoring minis professionally for the last 10 years. Built everything from nut and bolt perfect concourse cars, fuel injected KAD twin cam builds and Vtec cars of all variations. Currently own more minis than I am willing to admit.

I have been here since June of 2000, always as "Jayhawk".  Bought my first Mini in 1972, a new Authi 1275GT, while in the Navy in Rota, Spain.  Sold that in '75 before coming home (if I knew then what I know now about swapping VIN plates. . .).  Life intervened for 30 years, but still paying attention to the world of Minis, until acquiring an Innocenti 1300 in 2005.  Now have a 2004 BINI - bought new, a '73 Moke, and a different Innocenti 1300.  Still have hard copy catalogs from Seven, Mini City (best graphic EVER), and Minimania (used yesterday because the Moke's subframe and front suspension are 'in work' while a new motor is being built. Have acquired the best of friends thanks to Minis.  Was at IMMs in 2008, 2009, 2017, and this year.  Have been to most Mini Meet Wests since 2005.  Still can't figure out how to embed pictures in posts here. . .

I'm not quite sure when I joined this forum. Somewhere between 1999 and 2002.

Anyway, I recall the hot topic of the day when I joined was the decline of the board and how people were leaving.
