according to the profile been here since 2004. seems right around the time I bought the third mini. first one was in the 80's for 125 bucks and came with a baby barn full of parts! I popped riveted a floor in it and drove the doors off for six months. second one was early 90's then not until March 04. now have 3 and a half in the garage. (one is on a suzuki 4x4 frame)

Now only show up when I can't figure something out that hasn't gone wrong before. which is not often now.

Once you replace everything that is attached to something else. It will all be fixed.

Hadn't posted to this thread due to trying to resurrect my old user name "Blue Surf" from early 90's through around 2007. I guess MM terminated it so I created a new one. Acquired my MK1 in 1989 as a non-running old SCCA car and slowly restored into a vintage race/street car over 10 years. Sold to a fellow in Austin, TX in 2006 and he later sold to someone else in the mid-west who raced it. I moved onto a 73' 2002tii and did the bow vintage thing for the next 8 years. I've been off the MM board since around 2007. Good to see a lot of the old guard still hear along with new folks. Back now looking for another mini.

Normally I would have dispatched 4 engines to each corner of the neighborhood and 1 engine to the center. Somewhat selfishly, I sent 2 engines to patrol the perimeter and 3 engines to surround the garage that held my car. The wind shifted and the fire spared the neighborhood. I picked up my smoky smelling car the next week.
Fun fact: Bo Derrek lived in the house next to where my car was stored. She saw the 3 fire trucks parked in front of her home and must have thought we were giving her special treatment. She spent the next day and a half baking us pies and making sandwiches and lemonade. Good times.

Thank you to Ron Jernigan for the seat cover that got my interior back to factory stock with no rip Thank you to CTR for offering help (even though some times it was harsh!) Thank you to Jon Benoit for the center binnacle Thank you most of all to Don for hosting this site and helping me from DAY ONE sorting out a car that sat for 20 plus years If I forgot anyone I'm sorry but my memory is slipping. Thank you for decades of joy and enjoying my mini to the fullest. I put 40,000 miles with a grin 39,999 of those miles.

Hey all, Been on the site since 1994, I believe. Got my first one in 92, a 1960, 850 from a guy in Buffalo, NY where I lived. Have have 17 classic minis over the years including, Cooper S, Wolseley, Elf, Open Classic, automatics, Austin, Morris, Leyland and Jap Spec, carb'd and fuel injected. Lived in Buffalo, Jax, FL, Cary, NC, Quad Cities, IA and in Jensen Beach, FL for the past 17 years. Had minis in every state and bought several from Canada. Currently have an original 87 standard car. Yes I am a mini and small car lover - also had 3 Bimi's, 2 Fiat 500's new, Fiat spiders, MGB's (7), midgets, Triumphs, Porsches, etc. My wife says, "stop the madness" but after almost 40 years of marriage she is still with me - so on we go! Looking for the next one as we speak.....cheers!!!

I first started on this site around 2001. Found a guy in GB that went by "Mini John" (aka John H.), imported our 1977 Mini from him... picked it up at the Baltimore docks, here in the US... trailered the vehicle back here to mid-Michigan (Flint/Lansing area).
About 6 years ago, I had the motor rebuilt by a local/reputable machine shop, put it back in the Mini.. but, never finished hooking it up.
We absolutely loved driving and showing our Mini.
Today, a friend of a friend stopped by and asked me if I would sell it. It would be sad to see our loved Mini go, but it has sat in the same place in our garage for many years. We had so many good times driving our Mini, lots of good memories.
Many of the folks that have already posted on this thread helped me many times when I had mini/mechanical questions back in the beginning... very grateful to them and for the host that operates the web/forum.

kevin.. you should have Michael Bax at www.riverhousemini.com in NL build you next defenders.. I have seen his work.. and done some his pickups at port charleston sc and NC title work..

That 1966 Green UK Moke was perfect......should have kept it. And the Cabrio, and the Pickup......f&%king divorce.
Moving more towards Defenders these days. Have two 90s in build now.
Still rockin' the Red Rally Mini and one new (to me) yellow Moke.

Mokehead has sent me information. According to him, the new owner, or at least his company, is in Seattle, WA. Not in Oregon. He's not a SAMOA member...and doesn't have 10 years on this forum!

kevin in ottawa.. and happy new year to ya.. thought you might have gone to moke HEAVEN?? just resold that BRG UK moke that you sold big al and then to me..went to seattle for $30.large fyi This was the moke that Mr Guest had some problems with a certain CBP inspector in Buffalo.. no names as he still works there at CBP..
