You will need to remove the front bumper cover and front bumper subframe to fit the intercooler upgrade on your 2011 R56.

The Intercooler is most effective in warmer climates or when the weather is warm to hot. You may have noticed that your turbo equipped car feels 'peppier' on cold winter mornings? The intercooler upgrade allows your MINI to have similar cold morning performance even on a hot day.

The Intercooler will not prevent heat soak if your MINI is not moving, as at a stop light or in traffic - however it will allow the intake to cool much faster once the car is moving. The intercooler upgrade will also increase the heat capacity before it may get saturated, so you can run your MINI at high boost for longer before reaching heat soak saturation.

Another benefit is the larger intercooler will allow you to run a more aggressive tune before the engine starts to detonate.

As for increase in power, the intercooler itself does not increase power, however it allows you to run a more aggressive tune, a larger turbocharger, and higher boost, all of which results in more power.
