Post a picture of the engine id plate.
Also is the Mini a real 1973 car? Sometimes when Mini's loose their true identity to re vinning they also get an engine number change to match the title and supporting documents they are exported with.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

make a car lighter and it's faster everywhere. Colin Chapman.

Yes, that is where the tag is located. It didn't look right to me and I couldn't find anything to help me ID it from information postd on the internet.

If it is a real Metro engine then yes, but if it is a factory replacement engine it would not.

Is this on the tag on the the right side of the front of the block next to the water temp sender? It does not look correct for a Metro number. If it is a turbo engine without the turbo it will be a real dog to drive as they were very low compression.

I have a '73 Mini and was originally told it had a 1275 engine out of an MG Metro turbo (less turbo ) in it. I was told it was a lead free enging from a 90's car. I am going to be doing some work on it and want to verify the information.I have checked a couple of sources on the engine number but am only confused by it. The number on the engine plate is HM 1390N 000435. Can anyone tell me for sure what I have?

Looks like I goofed and missed a number.
The tag on the motor says BHM1390N  000435
Still doesn't help me out with an engine ID
Anyone have any ideas as to what I have?
