I've only dealt with scooter CVT and they don't have "gears" like car CVT emulate.  As far as the battery drain, I would suspect the hood switch since you mention hitting a deer.  It could have jumbled something in the hood latch wiring to cause the shorts.  But it could also be the factory alarm/immobilizer that go jumbled and causing shorts.

Also the door/trunk/hood light on the dash keeps coming on & off.  If I set the lock, after a short, while the alarm comes on & keeps on until it runs the battery down.  If we go shopping and set the locks/alarm we come out with a dead battery.  I was thinking I would jumper out the hood/door and trunk switches but I'm sure how the alarm system ties into the problem.  Anyone have any ideas.

Thanks in advanced for any help that might be out there.
Difficult to diagnose CVT problems remotely, but a simple inexpensive test might be to clear adaptations to see if the problem goes away. As far as we know, the only tools that will properly reset adaptation is BMW Diagnostic Tool GT1 or INPA... This may mean a visit to the nearest MINI dealerships.

For the alarm problem, I would suspect one of the switches at the hood / door / trunk.
