Quote of the day or possibly the quote of the century: "thinking it was a no-brainer--to purchase a 2019 MINI" Gotta love it! No brains/BINI purchase!

Guess my buying days for a Mini are over.  I also tried the none sunroof version and was less than 1/2 inch from the ceiling.  And I do not want another model - just the 2 door hardtop with sunroof.  Guess the 2004 can keep going for awhile.
We have not heard of this on the 2019...  I am sure they had their reasons for going to a different sunroof design which caused the repositioning of the support bar forward - but that is a bummer it affected the headroom...

I suppose there might be a way to modify the seat rail to lower the seats, but that would be something I would not want to do on a brand new car....

Replace the driver's seat with one from a MkI ..... that'll give you some head room
