I sprayed the engine bay of my 260Z with a medium grey as it was mainly for show, and driving second. The clean up of any leaks is quick to spot and take care of. I was also surprised by the number of positive comments I got for this, as the Z engine bay, like the Mini, is supposed to be color matching to the exterior.

Big Al, that color might clash with what I'm wearing when I'm underneath fixing it.

it's your car, if you are cleaning and painting every part, make it your's.

don't build it to please everyone else, you are the one who has to clean it and look at it everyday,

do what you want, enjoy it!!!!

if you remember my white mini, I had done the subframes and the attached bits in grey imron.  I did it so I could see oil leaks and wipe them off the parts. Oil leaks on the black bits is hard to see.

I just re did my front end and painted driveshafts, hubs, tie rods, upper and lower arms and steering rack arms black. The calipers lower control arm pin and tie rod ends silver grey.
I replaced all the various nuts and bolts and washers with grade 8 (over the top) parts but i liked the finish. i was going to paint the new shocks silver but left them stock black. The bare metal on the new donuts i painted black also.
All insignificant bolts that i ended up re using (not many) were wire wheeled and clear coated.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Pink !

OK, OK, just kidding.  I'd likely go a medium grey.  Won't look too out of place I don't think and won't be blue or red or yellow *(boy racer)

Unless you want to build a boy racer car... detail grey for all if you don't like black.

As the title says, I'm building a garage queen. My question is that I'm touching every part, every nut and bolt by cleaning and wire wheeling. I'm going to paint everything that is not stainless. I would like to paint the suspension parts other than the traditional black. I did paint the subframe black.

What color the diagonal tie rods, upper arm, lower control arm, backing disc plate, caliper, etc?

You can rule out White paint.
