I must have been thinking of a different part that I found a nut that way, because I looked at the pump I have on the shelf (It came off when the car was repainted 11 years ago and never went back on. I guess it's not really needed) and it has an internally threaded locking collar rather than an external nut.

You just need a jam nut, unless you're only going for originality. Plastic or nylon or metal would work. Just need to figure out what size. Probably something from the plumbing or wiring dept.

Super glue might fix it - it's worth a try. The one in my photo has been super glued back together and it is holding now. Whether it will survive the "push test" when I get the other parts only time will tell.

Is it the same diameter/size as the thin nuts used on toggle switches? You could check the electrical section too.
