I was the DD . for the dancing bears the other night. to charlotte to see JJ Gray AND MOFRO . and it was all 20 somethings. all had smart phone in their hand.. walking around like a Zombie.. even worse than when we used to go Grateful Dead concerts and see the Zombies eating LSD.. have to wonder if they EVER take the phone out their hands..to have sex my guess is NO . as they have no communication skills in public.. I will admit that sitting in the 'library' reading an iPad isn't the same as flicking through a magazine.

Digital, Bill, digital.
The price of an overseas subscription for any magazine now is eyewatering, but digital is acceptable.

One time I put a 3/4 Shift hub in backwards.. 1-2 two worked.. but the 3/4 hub being offset wouldn't push enough one way and wouldn't pull the other for any 3/4 action.
Out it came again!

Sometimes the baulk rings can sorta get stuck on each gear taper during the reassembly process. If the box is still off of the transmission, you have the ability to stick an instrument into there and push (dare I say "pry"?) and wiggle the baulk rings to make sure each is loose. Turning the gears at the same time can help.
Oh, yea, just saw "when I put it in". can you slowly creep the car along with the engine off on a flat surface and try to engage each gear that way?

Mini Magazine ran an in depth gearbox rebuilding series earlier in the year - might be worth taking a peek at that.

It would be helpful to know what tranny you have. It's always a good idea to bench shift to be sure every things good. The one time I failed to follow this rule I got reverse only and a sick feeling in my gut. Steve (CTR)
Sorry now I see rod change. Did you flip the shift pin over and pull it back to engage 1st and 4th to torque? Getting inner loc and pin back in correct location can be hard. Mine was also a rod change and the problem had to do with the inner loc sleeve the ball and spring rides in. Proper location of bell cranks and the spacer washers is important as well.
If you like box and send to me, I'll fix it take pictures and tell you what happened.

I rebuilt the transmission. When I put it in it won't shift. It will go into second but the other gears seem to be jammed and will not turn. Any ideas what I did wrong?
