From what I've heard, it's because those pesky RHD Skylines were snuck it. Damn rural mailmen using those hot rod imports for express mail service! They just had to absolutely outrun the UPS and FedEx man! DHL wasn't a problem though, as their name implies, they're a Day & Half Late!

mike.. yes CBP is targeting RHD cars from the UK and Japan.. I just happen to know the head of the UK border police in the UK.. and she told me ALL cars are checked BEFORE they leave the UK.. and yes they check the public vin and the confidential vin on ALL classic minis and land rovers.. just ask Mini Mover about all the grief he has got from CBP at the border from Canada to the USA about RHD minis.. later bc

are they targeting rhd  import vehicles in particular? or is that just the starting point?  I realize lots of export cars fron the UK are with swapped vin #'s could be stolen vehicles and understand the scrutiny, but why original engine?  A 40 year old car is gonna need a refresh of the powertrain eventually.

mike.. think it would be ok.. seems to have the original engine and was LHD from the factory.. these are the two main things CBP watches out for in Land rover defenders and classic minis/ mokes.. and chassis on the land rovers must be OEM.. no after market GAVI chassic / frame. later bc
