What most Americans fail to realize is that Canada’s population is equal to that of the State of California. And only 10% of the total population of the USA

so who is the bully here ?

we are the largest trading partner of the USA, (even larger than China)

Statements, Like “stabbing us in the back” doesn’t help the situation

The wild card here is the Japanese auto makers , why would they continue to manufacture theist Automob in Canada if they lose the protection of the tariff free safety of NAFTA ?

The economy of Ontario and that of Canada hang in the balance

may sanity and fair play return to the bargaining table

The US exports more steel to Canada than it imports and Canada's share of both the steel and aluminum markets are a small portion of the US domestic production, so we do not pose a threat to the defense industry supply chain. However, the potential reduction or cut-off of the Canadian supplies will result in shortages of supply and increased prices within the US. That may also negatively affect the defence industries.

From this side of the border, one of our major concerns is the supply of aluminum beer cans and kegs, which come from the US.

Glad to see you stopping by, John!

Personally, I like tariffs when used to level a lopsided playing field.  There's nothing wrong with being patriotic or knowing which bathroom to use - not everyone's a globalist.  MAGA!

Dan

actually l told the border officer l had the Gerry cans in my truck under the tarp, never knew it was illegal to import extra gas

if our petrol prices continue to rise, l will be making bi-weekly trips across the border, 25 miles away

and ironically the petrol comes from the Esso refinery @ Nanticoke, Ontario, so Canadian Alberta oil, shipped by pipeline to Ontario refined in Ontario, shipped to New York State by  tanker truck and purchased by me to bring back to Ontario

AL: It would have been a different story if they'd sent you to secondary inspection and discovered the un-delcared 6 gerry cans. They might have confiscated them or assessed a penalty amounting to the value of the un-declared material, and applied a fine for failure to declare. Might have impounded your truck too.

Onetime
of course your trunk was full of illegal mini parts

i crossed at Niagara Falls Ontario a couple of weeks ago, filled up my truck with $50.00 cheap US petrol & $87.00 in 6 Gerry cans total$137,00

get back to Canadian Customs, answer the obligatory questions, then how much gas in the truck,? ,  $50.00, O K go inside, 20 minutes after a clerk has been playing with a computer trying to convert U S gallons to Litres to Canadian Dollars,he charges me $16.45 CDN for excise tax and duty, pay the man and leave

after l got home, l got my own calculator out and after 5 minutes figured l had saved  $45.00 even after paying the penalty

winner !!!!!!!

I understand, my profile is filled out, just can’t choose a flag. Cut some purple iris’s from the cottage to bring back to my wife, customs confiscated them, threatened a 500 dollar fine. You have to give them something to work with, low hanging fruit.

lol....no not customs

The flag is just a quick reference to where someone is located.  Someone in CA might be able to help with a classic MINI problem if in the same prov.   Or the US, perhaps same state.

I'm not concerned about US and Canada. It's the left and right in US that worry me. Steve (CTR)

The flag isn't about patriotism.....it's about where you are geographically located !!

And about the tarrifs etc.     ..... don't make us come burn down your white house again
So when I am posting from Canada I need to fly the Canadian flag? Seems a lot of effort. Your not a customs official are you?

That's a good thing - one of the counterveiling duties to be imposed on US imports to Canada will be on CHOCOLATE. That'll make the folks in Hershey PA start to pay attention.

As a further indication of his support for our American cousins...Big Al says he will continue to accept US dollars at par....one US$ for one Cdn$.. his sacrifice is commendable
