I think I need to keep the original 100 mph speedo, and it's LHD. Does make sense to just rivet the panel in place, with the fire wall matting, it would not be seen. still working on the seats at the moment

If you wanted to possibly do it 100% correctly at a later date just use some stainless screws they will be a lot easier to remove than panel bond. Anything will probably look better than what you are currently looking at.

Or you could go with a 1275GT dash set-up..... 3 clock in front of driver with Rokee wood.  Have one here FS (RHS)

Located the heritage panel at mini spares, not expensive, should be a nice improvement to the car. I will have to get a little driving in before taking it apart, and decide on a 3 hole pod, and free standing tach, or the 4 hole. Thank you Mur.

I think you can do a tidy job of it as you have proposed, and it will improve your enjoyment of the car. If someone buys the car from you and wants a Concours quality repair then they can always do that later.

Thought I would start a new thread as things are kind of quiet here. Assuming of course I am not part of the problem here  Considering repairing the firewall on my 62 cooper. I cannot now find, but have seen a repair panel to return my firewall to stock in order to mount the 3 gauge binical again. Considering using 3m panel bonding, then some mud finishing to blend it in. The thought here is avoiding any heat and the further disassembly of the car. What say all?
