Craig is in Victoria I think.... close enough to lower mainland, and almost as close as you can get to Japan...lol

Jap spec MINIs are nice, usually no rust ( or little ), usually only around 50K km.  Don't buy an automatic though.

They are fun to drive, but typically not well taken car of (oil changes etc. )

I met Craig from Hunter's at MMW in 2010...good guy.... although I bought my 1989 Jap spec MINI in Calgary from another broker.

Yes....get one that's already here and look at it yourself or someone that knows classic MINIs look at it.

If you do find a fantastic deal on an automatic......it is easy enough to change out though, just need to find the lump and shifter and clutch pedal.  ( Not sure if computer etc. is specific to an auto if it's a 90's SPI )

Have you contacted these guys? jdmcarimport.com - not Mini specialists but they can get them in.

Any reason you want RHD? I have heard (do NOT know if it is true) that ICBC are putting a premium on RHD cars, especially those driven by younger drivers.

another vote for Craig, I was there yesterday picking up some stuff and he has a couple Minis "in stock". He has also helped me get a bunch of cool cars from Japan over the years.

I have been buying parts from and recommending Hunter Classic Sportscars for a long time.

I have a very nice late model Japanese spec mini that Craig Hunter helped me acquire. He does this because he is an enthusiast.

There are also nice cars cars that are already here.

Always local if you can - that way you get to see the car yourself. Buying sight unseen is a gamble. Even if the seller is 100% up front with you, their description of the car may not match your expectations.
