I've always liked the looks of the XK8 as nice looking, and figured the performance would be very good, but of course I've never owned one. I think Jaguar should have replaced the XJS with what became the Aston Martin DB7, first with the straight 6 and then the V-12. Of course Aston needed a new car, but now no Jaguars ( except the no longer built XK8 ) are identifiable to the average observer as a Jaguar. I could be passing a Jag saloon every day and I wouldn't know it. I miss the XJ6 and XJ12.

The 3 makes sounds very, very interesting. Any of them for sale ?

Tony’s turquoise mini “ Hilda” is about as good as it gets, never saw rain, nor snow. Tony went over the  the top on the rebuild, so much so that he will be losing Big time on it, might even have to sell his Tesla. LOL

I’m. Down to 3 Mokes and my money pit XK 8 Jag Convertible.....my active car dealing days are behind me....thinking of installing a shuffle board court in my man cave

Good luck, if you pull the trigger on  Hilda, if not, l have it sold in Connecticut once the border opens up.

You got that right Big Al ! So great to hear from you ! As you will see if you read my other current thread my hunt has moved from St John N B to St Catherine's Ontario  ! I understand that you know Tony Petrecca! Well it's his light blue mini saloon with the swiftune 1293 engine in the light blue with white roof saloon. I'm on the verge of taking the plunge. I'm not sure if I'd ever find a better quality mini than Tony's car ! I have a great photo of you and Tony together at a car show. It's a small classic mini world !I think we all enjoy the commeraderie. Do you remember Tony's mini Bid Al ? ( I have no idea when the photo was taken ). What do you think of his saloon ? He just finished ( this summer ) building a mini pickup. This was from British Heritage Motors reshell just as the blue saloon was. Very high standards to his work ! What are you driving these days Al ? ( do you still have the countyman?  ) I'm around to stay this time Al.
I'm buying a very nice classic mini this time...no half- quality.  It's for my 58th birthday which happens to be on October 8th ! CHEERS EVERYONE  !

I am still on PEI Al. I have learned more than I wanted to on this thread and overall experience.  But I'm about to get back into the game.
I've thought of you lots of times over the last 5 ( ! ) years, and all the other SOLID friends I have here. This thread will never be reread by me.
If it was paper instead of only occupying cyberspace,  I'd ball it up tight and burn it. It was such a bitter experience. If Mr Hayman  ( ? ) is
still in the mini biz Iwish him well, but also hope he has tightened up his ship. As for my undoing by my own blood brother...that will always sting.
Darren.

I just noticed this ~ 5 year old post of mine. That mini, although continually told by the vendor that it was a " hop in and drive" car, turned out to have many operational issues. I was not satisfied with the vendor at all. But I had almost everything fixed except that I wanted/needed a new carburetor when one of my two brothers...SHAFTED ME...in a very, very nasty move. This "shafting" actually cost me about 15 K dollars and that solid as a church mini. I'm not getting into details but to tell any who may not know...even immediate family can cause serious troubles
in life. Mine has certainly proven to be.
Derwood.

The "very knowledgeable person at Minimania" posts under the name "kenatminimania".

There is only one Mini Mania Forum. It works for Minis and MINIs. Also, one very knowledgeable MINI person at Mini Mania responds to MINI questions.

Sorry Robert. I forgot to mention about the radio fuse. If “they” say there is a fuse on it, there may be. But without disrespect, the forum for New Minis would be a better place to ask , as you are in the classic Mini section. While some forum members have both an old, classic Mini and a New Mini, the other section will be better able to answer your question. Regards, Darren.

Hi Robert and welcome to the forum. I’m afraid you’ll have to put running lights on the New Mini if it doesn’t have them. Any time a car is imported to Canada, it’s first inspection in the country is a “special” MVI. What they are looking for is to make sure the car has everything that is required for a car built for this market. In your case that is going to mean running lights, not simply changing your fog lights, by the sound of things. For me it meant ( among other things ) changing from clear lenses on the signal lights and marker lights to amber lenses on both places. Good luck , and don’t kill the messenger. Cheers, Darren.

Mine came from Jana with LHD ( unusual, but it DOES happen.
, and if it had been RHD, I would have changed it too.

I am phoning that some folks , who are willing, to send me an email to    darrengiddings@gmail if you are willing to help me while I work on it. Many posts will be placed by me, but it would be a big help to know who
will receive calls of help from thie to time. In the meantime, I’m going to ask Don Racine if he can help me to
fix the “ I can’t post pictures “ ptoblem I have.
Rpthank you....please consider my plea for help...
       thanks, Darren.

I like that idea.  RHD in CA sucks.   ( unless you're a postal worker...lol )

Mine has the whole AC dash etc.....otherwise I would have switched it to LHD shortly after getting my Jap spec MINI
I wanted LHD. Part of the reason I chose this one. I have driven RHD, and it was easy, but LHD is what it wanted. Please stay with this thread as I work towards a proper working Mini ( same for all forum
memder ) and May/ will appreciate help for troubles that come along. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
