Looks like those will be a bit more of a challenge. This guy has a lot of Lucas we found part numbers and cross reference numbers. Just no lens. Does anyone know when US MK1s went to amber tops? Steve (CTR)
Did I read Dec of 66?

Here we go, someone wanted red top halves for a traveler I have a pair (only one pair) so contact me if you want. I also have a couple of pair of the red uppers for a MK1 saloon. These are NOS in the boxes. contact me if interested. Steve (CTR)
Edit: The all red MK2s are another thing, It looks like the numbers are maybe
54579193 for RH
54579194 for LH
I'm not sure this is correct info as he has none. Still working that one.

Thanks that's a start I bet he can figure it out from there is he has any. I can't wait for the weather to improve. He has no heat in the warehouse so not there much this time of year. Steve (CTR)

They apparently do exist, here's a sold one on ebay : Austin-Mini-MK2-NOS-Lucas-Left-Hand-Tail-Lens
If they are like the lenses for Elfs & Hornets, the Lucas part number is exactly the same whether they are the red export type or the amber/red UK ones. Only the BMC part is different. Makes it rather hard to search for them, since they seem to always be listed by the Lucas L-whatever number. Make sense? Not so much...

If you have part numbers I'll check. A local buddy has a 9000 sq ft. warehouse full of NOS lucas. Due to bad weather we have not checked on the van lens yet but I do have those part numbers. Steve (CTR)
Yeah, if you can locate part numbers for all red lenses I'd like to have those numbers too, as my BMC MK2 parts book says they are only available in amber.
All red lens number is "54579341" for the RH. That number is inside the lens and on the box. Outside lens "L 813", "SAE A 67" and other smaller numbers. I don't have an LH number since that is still on the car and it's in storage.

I don't know how bad you want all red lenses, but I just read a 'how-to' on making your own. The article is in the january 2014 issue of 'Practical Sportsbikes', a British magazine. References are of course to Brit products, but the stuff is probably available in the States. Doesn't look dificult, though maybe time consuming. They say the molds they made are reusable, so you could make a bunch of sets and sell them.

Hugh,
Though rare they did make them. I have a 1968 French-delivery MKII which has Red top tailights. When I got the car it had only one side, but scored an NOS one for the other side after a long search.

I don't think they ever made a red top for MK2 Minis. As BMC had already made the decision to forgo modifications to make the Mini comply with the new US regulations I don't think they ever developed a red top ad they were for US spec cars. On the other hand, I did see one MK2 with red tops that belonged to Art Mackenzie Jr. When I asked where he found those he said that he simply painted them red from the inside. Visually they looked just like the red bottom lenses. Hope this helps.

Looking for a very good set of rear lenses with or without housing. Need to be solid red,not two tone.
