Mike I think there's a "fart gap" between the bottom cushion and the back to allow all but the worst ones outSmile

Lets keep this one going just a little longer. These are mine. Not for the large of backside but very comfortable none the less.

Lots of the stock mini seats are vinyl. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter. I prefer the fabric. also keeps my butt in the seat in a quick turn.

This may be off topic or need another thread but it applies here: My family is against leather (except me) I'll consider beathable vinyl (perforated or weave) - Anybody had to go that way?

Also regarding weight - what about 914 seats? they always seemed pretty light to me

the acura integra seats are fabric, but I think they also come in leather or vinyl. Super comfortable and firm.

Generally tan leather Miata seats will be mostly destroyed if removed from the seats. Early MX5 leather seat upholstery (with seat speakers) in tan leather are not high quality to begin with. The leather is only on the face and tends to be of low quality. Torn to hell and beyond early seats are typical. The aftermarket offerings are MUCH better quaility.

New upholstery is your best option and is available in a variety of colors and combos.

I've been coveting RedRiley's red leather Miata seats for awhile. Glad to know they are dyed, thought I was going to have to spring big bux on red leather, Miata seats fit and have speaker's in the headrest. Some have really nice aftermarket speaker's in them (glad I checked mine) but mine are kinda torn up. If anyone changes out tan leather cover's that need work I'll take em. The next thing I gotta learn is upholstry, Mom has the heavy machines too

The front mount is a section of retangular tubing, which I notched and welded in a flat tab. Drilled , this fits into the front seat slots with a single bolt. It lets the seat pivot upwards to access the rear. These seats also recline and tilt forward, but it helps to rock the seat forward like the oem seats for greater back seat clearence. The rear mounts had me puzzled as they are not aligned. I eventually made up a pair of 'towers' feet, welded to an angle iron, an bolted the inboard side to the angle, while the outer attachement required a bit of fiddling. I used a standard Lincoln mig welder with gas. I have a couple of electric 4" angle grinders. One set up with a cut off wheel, and the other with a grinding wheel. I spent all day fooling with this. It was a first for me. I'm pleased with the results, and the comfort is beyond compare. I"m about 5'-8" but if you're a tall person, you might want to lower the front and rear mounts.

I rode in a Mini this weekend that had Miata seats installed, it was quite comfortable, especially to the seats they replaced!

I have an extra pair of black cloth Miata seats I am going to sell if anyone is looking.

excellent! photos would be very very helpful, was it difficult? Looks like N.J. had templates, hopefully with all the info I can get this done. I'm excited! Also this is my first post here and I'm pretty thrilled for your help, nice change compared to other forums! Awesome way to truly welcome someone :-D

No em in your profile. mine is-- minibitz@ optonline.net

thanks.

Emails sent. I pulled my e addy from the profile to cut down on spam.

I would love to get your bracket templates from you for the Acura integra seats. I just got my Mini and I'd love to get this upgrade done and I have a line on some mint condition integra seats. This would be fantastic if you could help!
