Sounds like you'll be in good shape, then. That's pretty low mileage for a 12 year old car. There is a spec for torquing the oil filter, but I don't know it offhand. Most mechanics just know the right amount by feel, as you probably do. Happy Motoring!
PS. Are you sure the new paint job wasn't done to cover up something?

I inspected the car before i bought it. I was a mechanic for a few years. I also have done some training in a formula 2000 race car. It is driving very well. It likes being up to temperature. I recently did an oil change. the oil filter must of been put on by the hulk. It has 109,000 miles. It had a new paint job a few years ago.

Another advantage of heading over to northamericanmotoring is that you can avoid the precious Mini snark here...

In case you hadn't noticed, this site is predominantly geared to (pun intended) classic Mini owners, not the BMW-produced MINI. I own both, and will agree that a MINI can be expensive when repairs are needed. You have a 12 year old car. You didn't tell us how many miles are on the car, but most MINI owners who have the JCW option drive the car relatively hard. I'm assuming you had the car thoroughly inspected by a mechanic familiar with MINIs. The three BMW MINIs I've had have been above average with respect to reliability, but that is a small sample size. I would strongly suggest heading over to www.northamericanmotoring.com where you will be inundated by information tailored more to your car.

My tip is to get mechanical breakdown insurance, you WILL need it.
Disclaimer: I've never owned a MINI so I do not have first hand knowledge of repair costs, however, I have friends that are always bitching about repairs and a mechanic who is retiring very early as he's been repairing MINIS for the last 12 years.

Congrats! My first tip would be to invest in a high quality radar detector. Happy Motoring!
