...I was interested in the car and contacted the seller (who also had another Mini for sale) for more information on the car. Unfortunately, he never got back to me and decided to pass on it. It looked like a good candidate for a restoration,
cheers,
Abel

I confirmed it with the Mini Super Register's Registrar for the Supers, Garry D***ens. It is an April 1962 built Super shipped originally to Seattle. Now, how do we find the new owner so that the car doesn't end up with a Honda engine, 14" wheels, and the old grille doesn't get thrown out?

It sure looks like an all original (except tail lights) 62 Super. That's another one that needs to get back in service. I sure hope whoever buys it restores it back to original spec. Rare car!

The rear lights were a popular swap.. the real give away is the width of the rear window.  Its hard to tell from those shots but I would take a small wager that its a later (MkII) shell....

...yes, those rear lights were confusing me. That's why I initially thought that it might actually be a MKII

Has the entire rear panel been replaced?

It looks like it has a larger MkII rear window as well as the lights

The photos give it away. I agree with Mur. Super! It might be savable. Just having the right grille is half the battle!

I think I see MK2 taillights. It is sliding windows and has a mk 1 grill. An interesting mix of parts.

thanks for your replies. I appreciate the information. The seller has not provided much information nor enough pictures to determine, for example, where the harnesses are positioned. This is the ad,

My sons car is 236730 and was built 10 April 62. Not sure how many they produced per month, but I based my date in relation to his build date. Also, as Chuck said, it was common back then to title it as the current year it sold. Just out of curiosity, are the shoulder harness points on the B pillar about half way down or close to the top? All that aside, the best way to know for sure is a Heritage Certificate.

To narrow it down a bit, probably late March or early April 1962. Being left hand drive and probably shipped to and sold in the U.S. it could have been registered by it's selling date, not it's build date, which was very common in the U.S..

Definitely a MK1. From the VIN number it's most likely a late 61 or early 62.
