I think you missed the brilliance of my question..

The question was what month of 1967 was the Chinese Choke manufactured?

The answer is that it cannot be any of the twelve months, can it

I will be bringing (for sale) my 1967 Austin convertible moke (choke) to Columbus OH @ MM East

I would welcome any questions about it, its' heritage, pros and cons

We have seen re-vins, grey market minis, misrepresentive minis and mini aberrations over the years. Presented for re-sale

No one really cared ( gave a S***) just as long as their own car could be registered and plated

Now, when Mokes are coming in from China and being legally registered for sale in the U S A and Canada, some people are " getting their panties twisted", get over it, they are legal and the DMV have sanctioned them P S, I do not include California in my statement

JimOhio.. you are totally missing the point..  also TONS of FAKE 21 /23 window VW spilt window buses.. note BOGUS vin  number on this VW bus..    they make kits to convert the regular VW bus to 23 window for $4500.. ( I have bought these and sent back to the UK)  also lots the VW split buses  in LA now were made in BRAZIL..  even worse metal work than CHINA.. note the VW split window buses were made up to 1979 there in Brazil.. a  only 1967 in Germany.. check out www.thesamba.com

I was just following your logic..

- using a false name of vehicle in ad
- using a false year of vehicle in ad

two more points if I may

1. Subaru Sambars are actually quite good looking and I think Subaru quality is superior to Chinese quality.

2. You do not have to inflate your pricing to try and make a point.. Here is a great looking VW bus currently at a much lower bid than
$ 250,000... this may sell for much more than current bid and some do sell at very high prices but buying a Subaru Sambar to have a 23 window bus is almost EXACTLY like buying a Choke.. oh.. any why I am here, I have seen a lot of Sambar ads.. I never saw one titled "1967 VW 23 Window bus". at least their ad listing is honestly labeled.

jimohio. are you STONED or just plain STUPIC?/ at least the Chokes  look the same.  the one thing is that they are NOT eat up with RUST.. totally new with rebuild engines..  the subaru is one ugly bastard..  nothing like 21 window van.. btw.. these are FETCHING  $250,000 these days. NOT a mere $100 large..  check out www.thesamba.com   later bc

I have thinking about this some more... I would love to have a VW window bus.. you know, the 23 window one.. what do those go for in great shape?  $ 100,000 maybe?

Well I can have a Subaru Sambar.. they are basically the same thing, right?  As you can see with these pictures, they both have

  • - big VW logo
  • - two tone paint
  • - lots of windows
  • - Retro look
  • - really, really cool vibe

I can get a Sambar for maybe about $ 8,000.. why pay $ 100,000 for a VW bus when I can get one for $ 8,000

oh my last post was so

- good
- accurate
- poignant
- spot on

That I forgot to mention that the 1967 Austin Moke, which is neither a 1967 or an Austin has a new listing price up by about
$ 10,000 but still shows only 25 miles.  I would have thought the mileage would have been at least up to 28 miles as maybe someone took it for a test drive.

This is amazing.. utterly amazing.. a 1967 vehicle with 25 miles?  maybe the seller saw a prior post here how a 1967 Austin Moke with 25 miles is worth $ 100,000.  I wonder why the ebay seller did not at least post a $ 99,999 Buy it now price

It's OK nkerr

These same people bashing me are the same ones that jump down peoples throat about MERELY ASKING about re-vinned Minis. merely seeing what is going on with that...  it is pretty funny actually seeing their defense of the blatant misleading labeling of a Chinese replica built in 2016 or 2017 maybe, panning it off as a 1967 Austin!

oh yes, one more thing.. I wonder if these suddenly, newly defenders of misleading ads would be fine with someone trying to sell the vehicle picture in this post, a Subaru Sambar, trying to pan it off as a 1967 VW Window Bus... afterall, it does have the VW logo

wow this is wierd

the car is not a '67 or an Austin, but there are people here who are attacking the person who pointed that out?

In the past, folks have posted nearly original cars and been lambasted for having esoteric details incorrect, or re-vinned cars.  But in this case the foot is in the other shoe or something.

Agree, all this sanctimonious talk about what's "real" or not, buy It, drive it,. enjoy it, sell it eventually and move on

pbraum..  yea jean claude has some NICE moke in monaco at www.mokoncept.fr  that are all cagiva mokes.. as he can NOT buy them outside of France without a cert of conformity  from the manufacture which did NOT start in france until 1996..  no CHOKES..  as you have to pay 40% luxury tax.. 21 VAT and 9% sales tax or 70% total on moke import.. btw  I built the blue moke in question..  sold for $29k.. with custom top and canvas seats..  later bc  ps..a real 67 uk  moke with 25 miles.. would fetch $100 LARGE..

So in summary:

1. It is not a "real" 1967

2. Unless The Austin Motor Company started making Mokes again, it is not a "real" Austin

so far that is 0 for 2 as far an accurate ebay listing name goes

What would a "real" 1967 that is a "real" Austin Moke with 25 miles go for?  $ 45,000? $ 50,000?

It is what it is...... comfortable looking Moke - nice seats, good modern seat belts, nice wheels....full weather gear - looks as complete as one can get for "weather protection gear" in most Mokes .
Looks sharp to me - and I know it isn't a "real" 67.....

Those darn Mokes over at Mokoncept look sharp as well as their other models  https://www.facebook.com/MOKONCEPT-126471504054849/

//www.mokoncept.fr/en/61-moke-a-vendre    Plus, they even have some real ones for the Monaco yacht crowd
