To change over you remove the brass insert and insert the matching plastic carrier that holds the swinging needles.
My small selection of needle for my HS4s is about half and half; fixed and swinging.

You must not understand that fixed and swinging needles are directly interchangeable ..just use the correct mount...
Cheers, Ian
Once you replace everything that is attached to something else. It will all be fixed.

I am using #5 needles in my twin HS4 carbs. It's a near stock 1275 with ultra light flywheel and LCB. The carbs work fantastically and definitely had a slight increase in performance over the twin 1.25 I had on there.
As I recall, I have the jet only slightly below the bridge, so lots of room for richening if I were to mod the engine

so right now the engine is a 998 of unknown lineage. I think the needles are either ADD or AAE (will check tomorrow) they have a bit of "discolouration" on them not really rusty but might be so I want to replace them and in a 2 weeks the 1275 will be back from the builders anyway.
so onto the question. according to vizard's book a 1275 with modified head, race cam and extractor exhaust running 2 - 1.5 SU's I want a blue spring and a BG needle. ok but a BG is a fixed needle and the twins I have are swinging needles. what has a similar profile?
and really according to the minty SU needle chart the BG is massively richer then the needles I have now. so what do I want? car is used for auto slalom and regular road use.
