Mike the consequences are a 50/50 chance you are taking the AUC1341 has the vent on the left (looking at the back of the carb) and the AUC1342 has the vent on the right.  So if your elbow has two vents you will be right all of the time.

Mike they are not two vented but they are handed left and right. If you look at the picture above you can see the difference. Looking at it the rear would be the same as a regular HS2 the front would be the harder to find. All the same with the amount of aftermarket filters out there you would think there would be an abundance of them around but also with the amount of correct early Cooper restorations going on they are probably thin on the ground with owners converting them back to stock.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

What is the consequence if you use the single side vent verses the two side vent piece?

I did a little search today only to find I have buckets of HS2 s, the float bowls and lids but not much in the way of air horns. I do have several HS4 air horns. I will do some more looking but it's not looking good. Steve (CTR)

This show's the problem with HS2 elbows, also uses a shorter wing nut. Joe did not have the elbows a couple of years ago, but that may have changed, He did a fantastic job on my carbs.

The proper twin carb elbows have two vent ports, the standard HS2 elbows have only one vent port.
I've found one 2 port elbow, need one more.

Mark,
I sold the HIF that wa on the car, but I have another HUF and a very pretty polished manifold, if you can use them.

I know there are several different ones. Some vent the dash pot one side only others both sides. Looking around I don't see them offered as new. Wonder what they are worth? I picked up several sets of twin HS2s complete, some 1100 most mini. Not sure worth the time to rebuild all or just move them along. Steve (CTR)

Are these getting hard to find? With so many people going to HIF I'd think there would be some around. I will have a look around the shop and see what I can find. I'm having trouble finding HIF 44 air horns. Steve (CTR)

Ron,
As it happens, my car is very close to original configuration, and I'm just changing some obvious items that are not "correct".
This was not a performance decision.

Can I ask why you're removing the HIF? I have a 1.75 HIF that I was thinking of putting on a 1275.

I am converting my car back to twin SU HS2's (removed the HIF). I'd like to have the original style air cleaner also. I have located the housing, filters, and extended wing nuts. I am having trouble locating the carb to filter elbows. Anyone out there got 'em laying around?
Thanks for the help!!
Jim
