As noted above you can temporarily turn the thing off but it comes right back when you scroll up or down.

Tonight I found another workaround.  Being old, I decided to enlarge the page so I could read the text.  I used the wheel button on my mouse to enlarge the display to "150 %".  When the display got to that point, the social media bar jumped to the bottom of the screen and stayed there.  When the bar is at the bottom and not on top of text it is much less annoying.

You can hide the share bar.    If you look really carefully you will notice a right facing triangle under the share bar.  You may have to hover over the share bar or below it for it to appear.  Once you click on it, it goes away.

I use (only) Firefox on my laptop (Win 10), my tablet (Win 7) and my cellphone (Android). All have the same virus protection. Where available through the different Firefox variants, the settings are the same. The sharebar does not appear on the Win 10 laptop, but does on the other two. Same thing for the adverts at the top of the page.

I'd be OK with a discrete "Share" button that if clicked would "fly out" the string of options.

It's there on Firefox as well, so your  firewalls are apparently working well Alex.
Also appears on my iPhone, which really sucks because it takes up so much real estate !

Me too. Just ignored it. Not useful, but not in the way either  I don't need my friends knowing about my mini addiction you know?

If you're not all complaining about Tony, I guess you gotta find something else to whine about. All I can say is that if the share bar is the worst thing you can find to get annoyed by, then you must live in a really shiny happy butterflies and unicorns universe. Either that or you must never turn the news on.

That's the point I make.... Everyone from your Utility company to your credit card and mortgage companies, to the big box-heads like Amazon and Costco have a whole slew of these social networks in a nice lineup like you see to the right... most at the bottom of the page... not quite slapping you in the face like we do.... but still, ANYONE EVER use them? Facebook, Twitter, Google plus, Pintress, mail, print, I dunno what that last "+" mean.... It is all part of the debris of life in the modern world!  Have any of you EVER (and I mean EVER!!) decided to "share" your family vacation photos with your credit card company?  One would think that your big electric utility company would have to hire a team of social marketers to deal with all the twitter posts about how happy customers use electricity.... But NOBODY bothers!  There must be some SEO value to having this stuff... Google must "like" it, otherwise it's beyond me why we'd go out of our way to annoy you!

Probably not a good idea (for me!), but you are welcome to send me any thoughts I could pass along to the marketing manager.... I've already told him what I think!   The VERY best thing you can do is actually BUY stuff from us so I can establish your credibility and mine!

I have noticed on my home computer which has a wide screen that it does not interfere with the text like my office one does.
